Fatal Crash on Hammond Road Leaves 2 Dead and 2 Injured in East Bay Township
Tragedy struck on Wednesday evening in East Bay Township as a fatal crash on Hammond Road claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others with serious injuries. The devastating incident took place when an eastbound blue SUV veered across the centerline and collided with a westbound black pickup truck near Chartwell Drive.
Emergency responders, including the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office and the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department, rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the distress call at approximately 5:10 p.m. The sheriff’s office later confirmed the demise of both occupants, both aged 75, in the blue SUV.
The occupants of the black pickup truck, a 51-year-old male, and a 20-year-old male, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Munson for medical treatment. The authorities at the scene closed a 4,000-foot stretch of Hammond Road, stretching from Three Mile Road to Vanderlip Road, impacting the western portion of Four Mile Road.
