Tragic Dispute Leaves Brother and Sister Fatally Shot Outside Puerto Rico Courthouse
In a devastating incident that unfolded on Tuesday, a brother and sister lost their lives in a fatal shooting right in front of a courthouse located in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. The perpetrator responsible for this tragic act, identified as Roig George KaraKuzian, was reportedly acquainted with the victims. Moments after the abhorrent act, authorities swiftly apprehended the suspect at the courthouse in the northern city of Caguas.
According to reports from local law enforcement, the victims comprised a male civilian and a woman who served as a security guard for a private company. Regrettably, the security company was unavailable for immediate comment on the matter.
In a chilling turn of events, the sound of at least seven gunshots resonated through the area, causing a wave of panic. A video recording captured part of the chaotic scene, with a news reporter fleeing and an unrelated individual taking cover on the ground. Impressive footage aired by the local television station TeleOnce showed the aftermath of the shooting, as officers swiftly detained the perpetrator and ushered him inside the courthouse.
Upon arrival at the scene, Puerto Rico Police Commissioner Antonio López addressed reporters, expressing the authorities’ determination to establish a motive for the distressing incident. López described the incident as an extremely unfortunate case, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Alexis Torres, Secretary of Puerto Rico’s Department of Public Safety, revealed that the suspect and the victims were familiar with one another, engaged in an ongoing legal dispute over a property. Both parties had restraining orders against each other, further exacerbating the confrontation. They were scheduled to appear in court that very day because the suspect had allegedly violated the restraining order, as detailed by Jessika Correa, the chief prosecutor for the island.
Initially, authorities suggested that at least one person had sustained injuries during the shooting. However, it was later clarified that no injuries were reported.
