Gonzales revealed that, contrary to expectations, most of the illegal immigrants who crossed into Eagle Pass this summer were not returned to their home countries.
The number of encounters at the border has reached unprecedented levels under President Joe Biden’s administration, with over 2 million out of 7 million individuals encountered being released into the U.S. While discussing the impact of this influx, Musk highlighted the strain it places on cities like New York, which are struggling to cope with the surge in illegal immigrants. He warned that without immediate action, social services across the country could collapse.
In search of solutions, Gonzales proposed several common sense measures that the Biden administration could take to address the border crisis. These include raising the level of credible fear, increasing the number of repatriation flights, and relocating immigration judges to the border to expedite the processing of cases.
