Duke Energy continues to monitor outages tonight & Sunday morning

CINCINNATI – As the region braces for blustery conditions and the possibility of weakened trees and limbs causing power outages, Duke Energy remains vigilant in monitoring the situation across the Tri-State area. While the strongest winds have already passed, the utility company is prepared to respond promptly to any isolated outages.

We know it’s not comfortable when the power’s out, especially when it’s cold, so we’re very committed to being out and getting your power restored as long as it is safe to do so, said Jeff Brooks, a spokesperson for Duke Energy.

To address potential outages effectively, Duke Energy’s newest facility in Colerain is fully prepared. It serves approximately 150,000 customers in the areas outside the city, extending to the Indiana border. The facility is equipped with trucks ready to deploy and dedicated operators who coordinate with the control centers in downtown Cincinnati.

Amid these conditions, Duke Energy advises customers to exercise caution when using generators. If power outages occur, generators are recommended to be operated outdoors and never indoors to prevent the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Even if the wind doesn’t cause outages, the extreme cold temperatures can still impact the power grid. It is essential to be prepared with a kit and a plan in case of potential outages during these frigid conditions.

To report any outages, Duke Energy encourages customers to conveniently text the word OUT to 57801. Additionally, the company’s website offers options to report outages or check for outages in specific areas.

With a focus on the target audience, Duke Energy emphasizes safety and encourages customers to be proactive in reporting any issues. The utility company understands the inconvenience caused by power outages, particularly in the current weather conditions. Therefore, Duke Energy is committed to restoring power swiftly as long as it is safe for their dedicated crews to do so.

In conclusion, Duke Energy urges residents to remain cautious and report any outages promptly. By taking steps to prepare and staying updated through Duke Energy’s communication channels, customers can navigate these challenging weather conditions with greater ease and peace of mind.
