Detroit Labor Day Parade Returns with a Stronger Message: Labor United
After a three-year hiatus, the much-anticipated Labor Day parade is set to make a comeback in Detroit on September 4. The theme for this year’s parade, Labor United Stronger Than Ever, aims to emphasize the solidarity and celebration of working people, ensuring that the true meaning of Labor Day isn’t lost.
Organized by a dedicated team, including Byron Osbern, a business representative for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 58, the event aims to bring together a diverse range of union members from across Southeast Michigan. From mail carriers and autoworkers to construction workers, around 15,000 individuals are expected to participate in the parade, which will take a new route this year.
The march will commence at Sixth Street and Michigan Avenue in the vibrant neighborhood of Corktown, starting at 9 a.m. Following Michigan Avenue, the procession will culminate at Roosevelt Park, where an engaging program awaits. The event will feature distinguished guest speakers and political leaders, adding a significant touch to the festivities.
