The UK is home to over 11 million people aged 65 and over, representing almost 19% of the population. This demographic is projected to grow to 13 million people by 2030, accounting for 22% of the population. At the same time, climate change is leading to more frequent and severe extreme weather events, posing significant challenges to the health and well-being of older people, especially those in vulnerable locations or lacking necessary resources to mitigate the effects of such events.

With an aging population and the impending negative impacts of climate change, addressing these issues is crucial.
To gather insights, academics sought the opinions of over 140 older adults, policymakers, and practitioners throughout the UK. The research focused on factors contributing to the resilience of older people in the face of climate change, including heat waves, flooding, and storms.
