Congress Hears Testimonial Evidence on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena and Calls for Transparency
A year after the first Congressional hearing on UFOs in 50 years, the House Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs reconvened to explore the mysterious world of unexplained aerial sightings. The hearing addressed a range of issues related to what is now commonly known as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs).
It’s important to note that the term unidentified does not necessarily imply extraterrestrial origin. These phenomena are simply objects that defy identification. Proposed explanations range from advanced military technology to visual distortions and even possible encounters with alien spacecraft.
Three witnesses, all with deep military backgrounds, testified at the hearing. Retired Navy Commander David Fravor and former Navy fighter pilot Ryan Graves shared their personal experiences encountering unexplainable aerial phenomena while on duty.
Graves recounted instances where he and his colleagues observed dark gray or black cubes inside of a clear sphere during flights over an eight-year period. He also mentioned secondhand reports of Boeing contractors witnessing a massive, red football field-sized object near Vandenberg Air Force Base in 2003.
Fravor described his own encounter with a Tic Tac shaped object that emerged from the sea and rapidly ascended to an altitude of 80,000 feet, surpassing the capabilities of any known military aircraft. This incident was captured on an officially released Pentagon video in 2020.
Also testifying was David Grusch, a former Air Force intelligence officer, who claimed to have insider knowledge of a secret UAP recovery program. Grusch alleged that the government possesses fragments and intact vehicles of exotic origin but provided no corroborating evidence during the hearing.
While claims of recovered aircraft and astonishing observations made headlines, the witnesses used the opportunity to urge transparency and better reporting on UAPs. Lawmakers expressed interest in allegations that secret programs investigating UAPs may be operating with misappropriated funds and without proper oversight.
Graves specifically called for a standardized process enabling commercial pilots to document their UAP sightings. Such a process would reduce stigma and provide valuable information for safety practices.
The testimonies shed light on the need for increased transparency surrounding UAPs. The witnesses emphasized the importance of oversight by elected officials, ensuring that advanced technologies, if possessed, are used in the best interest of the United States and its citizens.
It is worth noting that all perspectives and claims presented during the hearing should be carefully examined for validity, and further investigation is required to determine the nature and origins of these unidentified aerial phenomena.
