Colorado Restaurants Shine in Michelin Guide, Aspen’s Bosq Among Top Honorees

In an exciting development for the Colorado dining scene, several restaurants in the state have received coveted stars in the prestigious Michelin Guide. The much-anticipated unveiling ceremony took place on Tuesday night at the Mission Ballroom in Denver, where it was revealed that Aspen’s very own Bosq was among the esteemed honorees.

Bosq joins three other Denver restaurants – Beckon, Brutø, and The Wolf’s Tailor – as well as Boulder’s Frasca as the only dining establishments in Colorado to earn a highly sought-after Michelin star. This recognition cements their status as some of the most exceptional culinary destinations in the region.

The inaugural edition of the Michelin Guide in Colorado covers several areas including Aspen and Snowmass Village, Boulder, Denver, the town of Vail, and Beaver Creek Resort. It highlights the diverse and thriving restaurant scenes in these areas, showcasing the incredible culinary talent and offerings available to locals and visitors alike.

Bosq stands out as the only restaurant outside of the Front Range to earn a Michelin star. Located in Aspen, this intimate eatery offers a unique tasting menu experience under the guidance of chef Barclay Dodge and his wife, Molly. Barclay, a James Beard Award-nominated chef and Aspen native, showcases his passion for food and creativity through his culinary creations at Bosq.

The recognition of these Colorado restaurants in the Michelin Guide is a testament to the state’s growing culinary reputation and its commitment to culinary excellence. It is a significant achievement for the chefs, owners, and staff who have dedicated their talents and efforts to delivering exceptional dining experiences.

In other news, Aspen Mountain’s newly opened terrain, previously known as Pandora’s, has been renamed Hero’s as a tribute to individuals who played a crucial role in its development. This includes the late Jim Crown, the former managing partner of Skico, who tragically passed away in a racing accident in Woody Creek. The new terrain and the surrounding area are named in honor of him and all the Heroes involved in bringing this ambitious project to life.

Additionally, the city of Aspen has updated the schedule for the 2023 Asphalt Overlay Project, also known as Maintain Main. The project’s timeline has been condensed to minimize disruption and facilitate a quicker return to normalcy. Starting from Monday, September 11, until Monday, September 18, the asphalt resurfacing project will take place along Main Street, ensuring the ongoing maintenance and improvement of this vital thoroughfare.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the Roaring Fork Valley may soon receive the new COVID-19 booster shots. Reports suggest that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is likely to approve the new boosters, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expected to issue guidelines on the prioritization for these shots. Pitkin County in Colorado is well-positioned to navigate the upcoming colder months and the potential respiratory challenges they bring, thanks to its proactive response to the pandemic.

Lastly, renowned ethologist, conservationist, and activist Dr. Jane Goodall recently visited Aspen to deliver a lecture on the importance of co-existing with nature. Despite ongoing challenges and threats to the environment, Dr. Goodall remains hopeful, emphasizing the vital role of young people in effecting positive change. She believes empowering the younger generation and giving them a voice are key to addressing environmental issues and preserving the natural world.

These diverse news stories reflect the vibrancy of life and the range of topics that capture the attention of readers in the Aspen community and beyond. From culinary achievements to outdoor developments and important public health updates, there is always something happening in this beautiful Colorado region.
