Chinese modernization opens up new opportunities for global development and promotes mutual learning among civilizations, according to experts and scholars at the Communist Party of China (CPC) International Image Innovation Forum held in Shanghai on July 6.
The forum, jointly hosted by the China International Communications Group (CICG) and the Central Institute of Socialism, brought together around 200 participants from various sectors to discuss the evolution of the CPC and its role in China’s path to modernization.
In his address, CICG Vice President Lu Cairong emphasized that the CPC has always aimed to benefit nations around the world through mutual learning among civilizations and Chinese modernization. He emphasized that China is not promoting self-admiration or a China-first mentality but rather seeks to create more opportunities for global development while achieving domestic growth.
Xu Shaogang, Academic Dean of the Central Institute of Socialism, highlighted the guiding philosophies of Chinese modernization, such as common prosperity for all, material and cultural-ethical advancement, and harmony between humanity and nature. He said that China’s modernization has dispelled the misconception that modernization equals Westernization and presents a new model for human progress that inspires other nations to seek their own development paths.
Hu Zhaoming, Director General of the Bureau of Public Information and Communication under the CPC Central Committee’s International Department, stressed the importance of enhancing the international communication of the Party’s image. He acknowledged the challenges posed by a Western-dominated international discourse and emphasized the need to construct China’s own narrative to break down these barriers. Hu also highlighted Chinese modernization as a major theoretical innovation by the CPC, demonstrating a new path toward modernization.
During the forum’s parallel sessions, experts and scholars discussed topics such as the CPC’s implementation of whole-process people’s democracy, the Global Civilizations Initiative proposed by China, the CPC’s international communication for promoting harmony between humanity and nature, and the Party’s international image building for world peace and development.
The forum also launched the CPC International Image Communication Innovation Joint Research Program, aiming to facilitate information exchange and research collaboration among different institutions.
