China calls for restraint and ceasefire in escalating Palestine-Israel conflict
China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, has urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and work towards a ceasefire amid the escalating conflict between Palestine and Israel. Zhang made the call during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Sunday.
Expressing grave concern over the outbreak of fierce conflict between Israel and armed groups in the Gaza Strip, Zhang emphasized the need to prevent further deterioration of the situation. China condemns all violence and attacks against civilians and urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid further escalation.
Zhang stressed the importance of complying with international humanitarian law and refraining from attacking and destroying civilian facilities.
