Four children who survived a plane crash in the Colombian jungle have been found alive after more than six weeks lost in thick vegetation. The group were rescued near the border between Guaviare province and Caqueta by the military. The Cessna 206 aircraft was carrying seven people on a route from Araracuara, in Amazonas, to San Jose del Guaviare when it issued a mayday alert on 1 May due to engine failure. The wreckage was later discovered close to where the children were found. Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro expressed his joy at the news, saying: A joy for the whole country!
