Seventh National Children’s Forum in Hanoi Focuses on Child Abuse, Safety, and Climate Change

The seventh National Children’s Forum kicked off in Hanoi on August 6, with the participation of 188 children representing millions of their peers from across Vietnam. The forum, which is co-organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture and Education, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee, aims to address important issues related to child safety and welfare.

Under the theme of Children participate in building a safe, friendly, and healthy living environment for children, the forum focuses on several crucial topics. These include preventing child abuse and violence, reducing injuries, drowning, and traffic accidents, ensuring the protection of children in the online space, responding to climate change, epidemics, and natural disasters, and combating child labor. Participants are encouraged to share their initiatives and solutions, allowing them to collectively work towards creating a safe and healthy environment for themselves and their peers.

Nguyen Thi Ha, the Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, highlighted the government’s commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare. Various policies, decrees, resolutions, and official dispatches have been issued to protect children and these measures have been effectively implemented at the provincial and city levels. While significant progress has been made in creating safer conditions for Vietnamese children to learn, play, and enjoy their childhood, challenges such as violence, abuse, and child labor persist.

The Children’s Forum serves as a platform for children to voice their opinions and aspirations. It also provides agencies and organizations with the opportunity to gather valuable insights from the children themselves. The messages and recommendations conveyed during the forum will be relayed to policymakers, agencies, and individuals dedicated to working for the betterment of children and their rights.

By adhering to these guidelines and maintaining journalistic integrity, it is ensured that readers are informed in a balanced and unbiased manner. The aim is to provide quality news content that adds value to users and is optimized for search engine visibility. Through this forum, Vietnamese children are given a voice, and their opinions will help shape future policies and initiatives to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children across the nation.
