Animal activists are calling for a giraffe named Benito to be removed from a small enclosure in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and transferred to an animal sanctuary or a zoo with appropriate facilities. Roughly 140,000 people visited the Centro Park monthly before Benito arrived last month. Since the giraffe’s arrival, that number has gone up to 200,000. In response to the activists’ campaign, the park promised to erect a larger sun canopy and a heated winter house for Benito, technology news outlet Gizmodo reports. The park also launched an education campaign to teach children what to feed the giraffe best.
