April Fenton, Brandi’s mother, shared, We remember her often. She was a big part of our lives. She was our child. Brandi was known for her infectious smile and unwavering happiness. April reminisced, I don’t think I ever saw Brandi not happy. Every morning she’d wake up happy. She was just an amazing child. Really a wonderful girl.
At just 13 years old, Brandi was an accomplished tennis player, a loving older sister to Garrett and Cassidy, and a true friend to anyone she encountered. Her impact is evident in the mosaic at the park that reads Brandi’s Peeps, featuring the names of those who held a special place in her heart.
Butterflies hold a significant meaning to Brandi’s family, symbolizing her presence even after her passing. They have had countless encounters with butterflies, even in unexpected places, during their travels across the country. A butterfly garden at the park serves as a beautiful reminder of Brandi’s love for these delicate creatures.
The creation of Brandi Fenton Memorial Park became a source of solace for her parents, April and Jon Fenton, as they navigated the unimaginable pain of losing their daughter. Jon shares, It’s the only positive, the park, because it was the only thing that kept me going really. The community, when you see people playing, it’s been a very positive thing for the community. The only good thing that came out of it was the park.
The park has flourished into a haven for community members, offering various amenities such as a splash park, covered basketball courts, dog parks, soccer fields, and an equestrian park. It also houses a memorial garden where people can remember their loved ones.
In their continuous efforts to honor Brandi’s memory, the Fentons have plans to expand the park by introducing a collection of angel-themed sculptures. Their dream is to ensure that the park remains a place of joy and reflection for future generations.
Visiting Brandi Fenton Memorial Park brings a sense of peace to Jon Fenton, who now frequents the park with their family dog. He expressed, It’s a great park and coming out here on Saturday, and seeing everything being used, is always a wonderful thing.
April added, We love that. We love driving by when you see it, whether it’s evening and the lights are on under the basketball courts, or you see kids playing, or adults playing on the soccer fields during the weekends, it’s just wonderful. It really is beautiful. It makes you happy.
