The chief spokesperson for President Joe Biden, Karine Jean-Pierre, has come under fire for allegedly gaslighting and spreading lies as the border crisis continues to escalate. And these numbers have since doubled. Many contend that people are flooding to the US border because they believe, with good reason, that they will be allowed to stay indefinitely. With roughly seven million illegal crossings since Biden assumed office, it is the worst record in modern American history.
Critics argue that the Biden administration is responsible for this crisis through its refusal to reinstate successful Trump-era policies, partly due to opposition to anything associated with the previous administration. President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have displayed minimal interest in addressing the issue, speaking about it as infrequently as possible. The Department of Homeland Security, headed by Alejandro Mayorkas, has even gone as far as demonizing US law enforcement agents while issuing directives that prevent the deportation of illegal immigrants, even those subsequently convicted of additional crimes.
Jean-Pierre’s ability to lie and stonewall without significant pushback can be attributed to the largely left-leaning press corps, composed of partisan Democrats who often share her identity-centric worldview. Furthermore, some press members may sympathize with her due to her perceived incompetence, while others may be reluctant to challenge her out of fear of complicating matters for the administration they support.
