Austin City Limits Music Festival Offers Job Opportunities with Police and EMS Departments

For the first time ever, attendees at the Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival have the chance to leave with more than just unforgettable memories. The Austin Police Department (APD) and Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) are actively recruiting for additional staff, and ACL serves as a unique platform to reach potential candidates.

Greg Webber, ATCEMS field operations commander, expressed the need for more recruits due to a staffing shortage. In an effort to attract a wider audience, they have set up a combined public safety recruiting booth at ACL, venturing beyond their usual recruitment methods such as EMS conventions.

Webber highlighted the appeal of working at events like ACL, where ATCEMS personnel are not limited to ambulance duty. They have medics stationed throughout the venue, allowing them to experience the energy of the crowd, interact with festivalgoers, and get paid for doing their job.

The recruiting booth features a QR code that directs interested individuals to ATCEMS’ recruiting website, where they can find more information and take the next steps in the application process.

While it’s still too early to gauge the impact of this recruitment initiative, Webber remains hopeful that it will help fill the much-needed positions. Austin is hailed as a great city to work for and live in, making it an attractive destination for potential candidates.

In addition to their efforts at ACL, ATCEMS has recently been active in recruiting at EMS conventions in Houston, Beaumont, Texas, and New Orleans.

By embracing the opportunity to recruit at popular events like ACL, both the Austin Police Department and Austin-Travis County EMS aim to address their staffing challenges and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
