ATF Halts FFL License Revocation, Gun Rights Advocates Win Lawsuit

Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) are celebrating a victory as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has withdrawn its attempt to revoke the Federal Firearms License (FFL) of Morehouse Enterprises, trading as Bridge City Ordnance in Valley City, North Dakota.

This decision comes after GOA and GOF filed a lawsuit defending the gun retailer, which was at risk of losing its license due to minor paperwork errors. The new Biden administration’s Zero Tolerance policy regarding FFL violations considered these errors as grounds for revocation. However, under the previous ATF policy, first-time errors only warranted warnings and corrective action, with revocation proceedings being initiated if improvement was not demonstrated.

Critics have raised concerns that the ATF’s decision to inspect Bridge City Ordnance immediately after the company joined GOA and GOF in a separate lawsuit challenging the ATF’s Ghost Gun Frame and Receiver Rule was not random. Litigation is ongoing in both cases.

Erich Pratt, GOA’s Senior Vice President, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, It has become quite obvious to the average individual that the ATF conducted the ‘random’ inspection of Bridge City Ordnance right after the company joined GOA and GOF in a separate lawsuit challenging the ATF’s Ghost Gun Frame and Receiver Rule last summer.

Gun Owners of America, a nonprofit grassroots lobbying organization dedicated to protecting the right to bear arms without compromise, represents over two million members and activists. They played a crucial role in securing this victory for Bridge City Ordnance and continue to advocate for gun owners’ rights.

Gun rights advocates are hailing this development as a significant win against what they perceive as overreach by the ATF. The case highlights the importance of holding government agencies accountable and ensures that minor paperwork errors are not automatically used as grounds for license revocation.
