An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 Max aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Portland International Airport after one of its exit doors blew out mid-air. The incident occurred during flight AS1282 from Portland to Ontario, California, with 171 passengers and six crew members aboard. Videos shared on social media showed the exit door completely open as passengers donned emergency oxygen masks. Although severe depressurization was initially believed to be the cause, further investigations are underway. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Flight tracking website Flightradar24 confirmed that the aircraft safely diverted back to Portland and reached the gate shortly after. This incident marks the third flight of the day for the aircraft, having previously flown from San Diego to New York before the fateful incident occurred. Alaska Airlines is fully cooperating with the investigation and promises to share more information as it becomes available.
