Trinamool Congress has accused BJP MP Shantanu Thakur of creating chaos while Abhishek Banerjee, the National General Secretary of TMC, visited the Thakurbari Temple in Habra. According to Kunal Ghosh, a spokesperson for TMC, the BJP is trying to silence and malign them by misusing law enforcement agencies. Ghosh claims that the BJP is using undemocratic and tyrannical tactics and is truly alarming.
Thakurbari is a historic temple in Thakurnagar, and Banerjee visited the temple to offer his prayers before his public meeting in Habra. Ghosh alleges that the MP created a ruckus by deploying his goons and Central Industrial Security Force personnel. Not only did they not adhere to the tradition of removing shoes before entering the temple, but they also desecrated the temple premises.
The spokesperson claimed that the CISF personnel physically assaulted women, and innocent, unarmed people were harassed gruesomely. The TMC has demanded the immediate suspension of the involved BJP MP and CISF personnel. The party has questioned whether the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will hold them accountable.
The spokesperson further stated that the difference between the BJP MP and Mamata Banerjee, the honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal, is that while the former uses force, the latter engages in developmental discourse. The GoWB has always believed in bringing welfare to all without discrimination, Ghosh claimed.
The Trinamool Congress spokesperson stated that the bond between Mamata Banerjee and Binapani Devi Thakur was profound. The GoWB has worked towards the development of Thakurnagar and its people, from Boro Maa’s medical care to local infrastructure. The GoWB has earmarked Rs. 10 crore for the Matua Development Board and declared a Govt holiday on Matua Dharma Maha Mela.
The BJP has not responded to these allegations yet. The incident has garnered significant public attention in West Bengal, and people have taken to social media to condemn it. The matter seems to have escalated the tension between the two parties.
