Tiger Cubs’ Tragic Death Prompted by Negligence of Genetic Ailment-Stricken Albino Mother

The recent demise of two tiger cubs at Bengal Safari Park in Siliguri has raised concerns regarding the albino tigress, Kika, who is believed to be accountable for their unfortunate deaths. The West Bengal Zoo Authority and the state forest department have compiled a report attributing the demise of the cubs to a combination of genetic ailments inherited from their mother and her negligence in caring for them.

According to the report, the two cubs had been grappling with genetically borne ailments ever since their birth on July 12 of this year. These ailments, passed down through their lineage, can be traced back to their mother, Kika, who happens to be the only albino tigress residing in Bengal Safari Park. The report asserts that Kika’s lack of attentiveness while tending to her cubs, coupled with their inherited health conditions, led to their untimely demise.

State Forest Minister Jyoti Priya Mullick confirmed the report’s findings, stating that preliminary investigations have not identified any lapses on the part of Bengal Safari Park authorities contributing to this tragic outcome.

While the report seemingly places the blame solely on the albino mother and her genetic ailments, it has stirred debates among experts and animal welfare advocates. Some argue that more comprehensive measures should have been in place to monitor and address the health issues of the cubs from the moment of their birth. Others contend that the Bengal Safari Park authorities should have provided additional support and guidance to Kika, considering her unique genetic condition.

As the news of the tiger cubs’ deaths spreads, concerns have been raised regarding the breeding of albino tigers in captivity. Critics argue that the genetic anomalies often associated with albinism raise ethical questions about the welfare of these vulnerable animals and the appropriateness of breeding them in captive environments.

Albinism, a genetic condition resulting in a lack of pigmentation, can amplify the susceptibility of animals to various health issues, including vision problems and skin sensitivity. While albino tigers possess a striking appearance, their survival and ability to care for offspring can be compromised.

In light of this tragic event, it is expected that Bengal Safari Park will review and enhance its protocols for breeding and caring for albino tigers, placing a greater emphasis on their unique genetic vulnerabilities. As authorities aim to prevent similar incidents in the future, the welfare of these majestic creatures and the responsible management of their genetic lineage should remain at the forefront of conservation efforts.

In the meantime, the investigation into the tiger cubs’ demise will likely continue, with experts and authorities collaborating to ensure a thorough understanding of the circumstances surrounding their tragic deaths.
