Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro in India was named the ‘Green School of the Year-India’ at the Global Education Summit on World Environment Day held in Dubai. Out of the 985 schools from 57 countries that applied, DPS Bokaro was one of the 70 schools shortlisted for the prestigious award. The school’s principal, Dr AS Gangwar, received the award on behalf of the institution.
The award recognizes the school’s outstanding contribution to sustainability and championing environmentally-friendly practices. DPS Bokaro installed solar panels to generate renewable energy and initiated a cutting-edge paper recycling unit to reduce waste. The school also launched a green brigade to safeguard the environment and installed bird feeders.
Moreover, DPS Bokaro initiated the ‘Save Soil’ movement and utilized organic and nutrient-rich soil for their thriving gardens. They also included essential environmental issues in their curriculum such as climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable living.

Jasmin Delvic, Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia, attended the Global Education Summit as a guest of honor, while László Márton, deputy of mission, Embassy of Hungary, Abu Dhabi, and Khanlar Pashazde, Vice-Council, General Consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan, attended as special guests.
It is commendable that DPS Bokaro received this great honor and proved their dedication to sustainability and environmental education.
