South Korea Considers Joining Multinational Talks on Ukraine in Saudi Arabia

South Korea is contemplating participating in multinational talks regarding the situation in Ukraine that are scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia this weekend. A diplomatic source disclosed that the South Korean government is exploring the possibility of sending a senior official from the presidential National Security Office to attend the two-day meeting, set to commence in the coastal city of Jeddah on Saturday.

Various Western nations and major developing countries, such as India and China, have reportedly received invitations to the discussions on the Ukrainian Peace Formula, while Russia was notably left out. Seoul’s potential involvement in the meeting is seen as a significant step, suggesting an expanding diplomatic engagement in the Ukrainian issue.

Last month, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, where they agreed to extend a package of security, humanitarian, and reconstruction assistance under the Ukraine Peace and Solidarity Initiative. One component of this initiative involves encouraging key developing nations to participate in a Peace Formula Summit proposed by Zelenskyy. The summit aims to implement the 10 points outlined in the Ukrainian Peace Formula, including the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kyiv, among other matters.

By considering attending the multinational talks on Ukraine in Saudi Arabia, South Korea is signaling its dedication to supporting Ukraine and finding a resolution to the ongoing conflict. The participation of various nations and their collective efforts to address the situation reflects the international community’s commitment to peace and stability in the region. As discussions unfold in Jeddah, diverse perspectives and opinions will likely come together, highlighting the complex nature of this issue and the search for viable solutions.

South Korea’s potential involvement in the talks not only underscores its growing diplomatic role but also showcases its willingness to contribute to global efforts in resolving conflicts. The country’s commitment to supporting Ukraine is demonstrated through its collaboration with other nations and its efforts to promote a peaceful resolution through multilateral engagements.

As South Korea contemplates attending the multinational talks, the international community eagerly awaits the outcomes and potential progress that can be achieved. While challenges persist, the collective determination to find a peaceful resolution offers hope for the Ukrainian people and the possibility of a brighter future.
