Mega Millions Jackpot Surges to $1.25B with No Winner Yet

The scorching days of summer have arrived, but the Mega Millions jackpot remains elusive, with no lucky winner yet. The drawing for the staggering $1.1 billion grand prize took place recently, producing the following numbers: 8-24-30-45-61, with the Megaball number being 12. The multiplier for this drawing was set at 4X.

In an unfortunate twist, Tuesday night’s drawing failed to yield a jackpot winner, propelling the grand prize to a jaw-dropping $1.25 billion for the upcoming Friday drawing. However, it’s worth mentioning that six individuals managed to match the five white balls but missed out on the Mega Ball. Among the winners, two were in California, while one each came from Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York, and Wisconsin. Meanwhile, a ticket sold in Texas successfully matched all five numbers and was equipped with the 4X Megaplier.

If Friday’s drawing produces a lucky winner who matches all of the numbers, they will have two options. The first is to take the cash prize, which entails one immediate payment followed by 29 annual installments. Alternatively, the winner can opt for a lump-sum amount. As it stands, this lump-sum payout would amount to a staggering $625.3 million before taxes.

According to lottery officials, no one has managed to match all five white balls and the Megaball since April 18. The Tuesday jackpot stood as the fourth-largest in the history of Mega Millions, according to the promotion’s website.

It’s interesting to note that Mega Millions is the only lottery game that has produced four jackpots exceeding $1 billion. These remarkable wins took place in 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Tuesday’s drawing marked the fifth time the jackpot has crossed this remarkable threshold.

Mega Millions tickets are available in 45 states across the United States, along with Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each ticket costs $2 in most jurisdictions, and players have the option to add the Megaplier for an additional $1, which can multiply their non-jackpot prizes.

Drawings for the Mega Millions jackpot are held at 11 p.m. EDT every Tuesday and Friday. As the anticipation mounts and the jackpot climbs to unprecedented heights, people everywhere are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the lucky winner. Will Friday’s drawing push the jackpot into the top three in Mega Millions history, surpassing the incredible $1.337 billion ticket won in Illinois on July 29, 2022? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, many individuals across the nation are dreaming of what they would do with the staggering prizes up for grabs. The allure of becoming an instant millionaire or even a billionaire is intoxicating, and the anticipation is palpable. As Friday approaches, hopes are high, and ticket sales are soaring.
