A design concept for a memorial to honor the victims of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting has been unveiled, featuring 58 towering beams that will emit warm light. The announcement was made by the 1 October Memorial Committee, which has been working on the project for over three years. The number 58 represents the individuals who lost their lives in the tragedy, including two people who died in subsequent years due to injuries sustained during the shooting. The design, created by local firm JCJ Architecture, also includes a park shaped like an infinity symbol, a garden area, and a 58-foot glass tower. Each beam will display the name and photo of a victim. The committee is expected to submit a full recommendation, including an alternate design, to the Clark County Commission in September. The memorial will be separate from a community healing garden built shortly after the shooting.
