Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed plans to replace Twitter’s iconic bird logo with an X logo as part of the company’s rebranding efforts. Musk, who changed Twitter Inc.’s name to X Corp earlier this year, announced on Sunday that the birds would slowly disappear from the platform. He also hinted that the new X logo could be unveiled as early as the following day if the design met his expectations.

In a subsequent tweet, Musk engaged with users about what the act of tweeting would be called under the new branding. Suggestions included Xweeting and Xeeting, while others preferred to stick with the original term tweeting. Musk simply responded with Xpressing.

Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X, expressed her excitement about the rebranding on Twitter, stating that X will continue to transform the global town square and go beyond what Twitter has achieved. She highlighted the company’s rapid feature launches in recent months and emphasized that X will be a platform capable of delivering anything.

Twitter, known for its blue bird logo, considers it its most recognizable asset. Musk had previously experimented with replacing the logo temporarily, such as substituting it with Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog, which resulted in a significant market value increase for the meme coin.

Since Musk took over Twitter in October, he has faced criticism for changes he proposed, including the introduction of a subscription service called Twitter Blue to replace the old verification system. The company also faced a lawsuit last week, accusing it of owing at least $500 million in severance pay to former employees who were laid off when Musk implemented cost-cutting measures.

By rebranding as X, Twitter aims to create a new identity while preserving its core functionality. The shift to a new logo reflects the company’s determination to evolve and adapt to the changing social media landscape. As X Corp sets its sights on a fresh start, users can expect more updates and enhancements to the platform in the near future.
