The 5th annual Combat Hunger event was recently held in Appleton, Wisconsin, with a focus on supporting veterans facing hunger in the Fox Valley. Woodward Radio Group collaborated with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin to organize this initiative, which aimed to raise funds and collect food donations for veterans in need.

The event took place at a local grocery store and featured a live 12-hour broadcast from Woodward’s six radio stations on June 29th. Community members generously donated both food and money to support the military branch of their choice, with the Army receiving the highest number of donations.

All food donations and gift cards collected during Combat Hunger were given to the Wisconsin Veterans Village Association. This organization, based in Appleton, provides affordable housing and support services to veterans in need. The funds raised through cash and online donations were split equally between the Veterans Village and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

The ultimate goal of this collaborative effort is to assist veterans with various needs, including medical assistance, job training, education, and addressing homelessness. By working together, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and Woodward Radio Group hope to ensure that veterans in the Fox Valley do not have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

Patti Habeck, the President of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, expressed her gratitude to the men and women who have risked their lives to serve the country. Overall, the 5th annual Combat Hunger event in Appleton was successful in raising awareness and support for veterans facing hunger in the Fox Valley.
