The Islamic Centre in Lucknow has issued an advisory urging Muslims to refrain from sharing photos or videos of animal sacrifice on social media platforms during Bakri Eid. The advisory issued in respect to the sentiments of other communities encourages Muslims to ensure that only animals that are not legally restricted are sacrificed. The chairman of the Islamic Centre, Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali, has asked the community to maintain cleanliness while performing the sacrifice and to ensure that no waste is left on public spaces. He also called for the meat to be distributed among the poor and needy and for a third of the meat to be given to them. Bakrid, the festival of sacrifice, is set to be celebrated on June 29 across the country.
