Washington- America has troubled the dragon with one of its decisions in view of the increasing closeness between Maldives and China. America has started a strategy to improve coordination between India, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Due to this, China’s concern has started increasing. Senior US diplomat Richard Verma will undertake a 6-day official visit to India, Sri Lanka, and Maldives next week. The purpose of Verma’s visit is to strengthen America’s bilateral relations with key partner countries in the Indo-Pacific region and to reaffirm America’s enduring commitment to making the region free, secure, and prosperous.
US Deputy Secretary of State Verma will visit three countries from February 18 to 23. His visit, which marks two years of the US Indo-Pacific Strategy, will reaffirm America’s enduring commitment to a free, secure and prosperous region, it said in a press release on Friday. According to the release, the visit will strengthen US cooperation with each of these key Indo-Pacific partner countries. The official statement said that in New Delhi, Verma will discuss US-India talks on a range of issues, including economic development, security, and technology. Will meet senior government officials, business leaders, and entrepreneurs to advance global strategic partnerships.
The US Indo-Pacific strategy was presented on February 11, 2022. Under this strategy, the US Department of Commerce has worked with allies and partners to build a free, prosperous, secure Indo-Pacific region. Verma will visit Malé, the capital of Maldives, to meet senior officials to advance shared priorities in enhancing economic cooperation and promoting maritime security. He will go to Colombo on the last leg of his journey.
