The Ottawa Police Service Welcomes 21 New Officers
The Ottawa Police Service proudly celebrated the graduation of 21 new officers on Thursday. These recruits completed their training, which began in July 2023, and were honored during a special badge ceremony. Moreover, several recruits have lived experience in countries like Nigeria, Congo, El Salvador, Peru, and China, adding an international dimension to the force.
The cultural diversity of the new officers is also striking. They collectively speak thirteen languages in addition to English and French. These languages include Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Somali, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Tajik, Lingala, Swahili, Yoruba, Farsi, Luri, and Dari, which will undoubtedly prove valuable in serving Ottawa’s multicultural community.
