A search is currently underway in California for a military helicopter that went missing while carrying five Marines. The CH-35E Super Stallion helicopter took off from Creech Air Force Base in Clark County, Nevada, and was headed to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding the missing helicopter and immediately activated their search and rescue unit. They are currently coordinating efforts with multiple agencies, including the Civil Air Patrol, United States Border Patrol BORSTAR unit, CalFire, and the US Forest Service. Due to difficult terrain and inclement weather conditions, the search is being conducted using 4×4 Jeeps. However, if weather conditions improve, the sheriff’s department plans to utilize their ASTREA unit for an aerial search. As of now, the search is ongoing, and the authorities are determined to locate the crew and the missing helicopter.
