AEW Collision premiered on Saturday, August 20th, and drew in over 816,000 viewers, making it the third-most-watched show on cable TV for the night. According to reports from Showbuzz Daily, AEW earned a 0.33 rating in the 18-49 key demographic, which represents approximately 430,000 viewers. The show featured several anticipated matches such as Wardlow defending the AEW TNT Title against Luchasaurus, Andrade El Idolo’s return to action against AEW World Trios Champion Buddy Matthews, and the return of CM Punk, who teamed up with AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR to take on ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe, Juice Robinson, and Jay White.
AEW Collision’s viewership ratings were higher than the previous Rampage episodes aired this year. The March 25th show garnered 373,000 viewers with a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 key demographic. Meanwhile, the show that aired on April 22nd had 371,000 viewers with a 0.12 key demo rating, and the May 13th episode drew in 284,000 viewers with a 0.07 key demo rating.
Although AEW was not able to top Saturday night’s College World Series game featuring LSU vs. Tennessee, which garnered a 0.39 key demo rating and 1.608 million viewers, it’s worth noting that AEW performed better than other cable shows for the night. The show ranked #16 in viewership among all cable shows for the night, and #3 in 18-49 key demo ratings.
AEW continues to showcase the best in wrestling while retaining its spot amongst the top wrestling promotions. The Collision premiere had an impressive lineup of matches and tells us that the fans are still invested in wrestling’s hottest new promotion.
