Three drones were shot down in the Moscow region following a suspected attack on a military warehouse, local officials confirmed. Two drones fell around 5:30 am and 5:50 am local time as they approached the warehouse of a Russian military unit in the village of Kalininets in the Naro-Fominsk district. Law enforcement agencies said that three drones were shot down in both New Moscow and the Naro-Fominsk districts using electronic warfare. Russia has experienced several recent drone attacks, including in Moscow and regions close to the border with Ukraine and western Russia. On May 3, the Russian government accused Ukraine of launching a drone attack on President Putin’s residence; Ukraine denies any involvement in strikes inside Russia. Moscow was targeted for the first time in a large-scale drone attack since the Ukrainian war began in February 2022, an attack that Putin described as a “terrorist attack.”
