Music streaming giant Spotify is updating its desktop app with a new design that brings the app’s layout in line with its mobile version. The update includes a revamped Your Library feature that provides instant access to saved music and podcasts, while also allowing users to browse, organise and switch between playlists with greater ease. The new design also includes a Now Playing feature that displays detailed information about each song, including tour dates and merchandise. Spotify said the redesign would give users more context and quicker access to their favourite items. The update is being rolled out globally to all desktop users.
The app update coincided with the news that comedian and television personality Trevor Noah will host a new weekly podcast on the platform featuring open-ended conversations with influential figures. The podcast is set to launch later this year. The update and podcast announcement come only days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ended their dealings with the streaming giant.
