Israel opens fire at Palestinians leaving hospital despite truce
The Israeli army has reportedly opened fire near Al-Rantisi Hospital, preventing citizens from returning home despite the temporary ceasefire agreement that came into effect on Friday morning. According to Al-Jazeera, no casualties were reported as a result of the incident. The four-day humanitarian truce began at 7 am local time in Gaza and can potentially be extended.
As part of the ceasefire, Hamas in Gaza plans to release 13 detainees, including women and children, while 50 Hamas hostages will be freed over the course of four days. The release of detainees is scheduled to commence at 4 pm local time in Gaza, with 39 prisoners from Israeli occupation prisons set to be released on the first day alone.
During the four-day ceasefire period, 150 prisoners, primarily women and children, are expected to be released from occupation prisons. The initial day of the truce will also see the entry of at least 200 trucks, including 130,000 liters of fuel and four trucks of cooking gas.
Both sides are required to adhere to the ceasefire, which means the Israeli army planes will cease flying over southern Gaza throughout the day. In addition, unmanned drones will cease flying in the north for a six-hour window from 10 am to 4 pm.
This latest breach of the temporary ceasefire has raised concerns about the fragility of the truce and the safety of civilians in Gaza. International observers are closely monitoring the situation, urging all parties to uphold the ceasefire agreement and ensure the protection of innocent lives.
The world waits anxiously to see if the ceasefire will hold, and whether it will provide a potential path towards a lasting peace.
