Fallen Baltimore Firefighter Honored at New York Jets vs. New York Giants Game

In a heartfelt tribute, the New York Jets vs. New York Giants football game on Sunday paid homage to a brave Baltimore City firefighter who tragically lost his life recently. Lieutenant Dillon Rinaldo, who hailed from New Jersey and served in the Fair Lawn Fire Department, passed away following a rowhome fire in Northwest Baltimore. The game, held in East Rutherford, New Jersey, featured a touching moment when a sign on the scoreboard displayed the words, In Loving Memory: Lt. Dillon Rinaldo.

Lt. Rinaldo, a dedicated firefighter who had been with the Baltimore City Fire Department for nearly six years, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, less than a week after battling a massive fire on October 19. The devastating blaze unfolded in the 5200 block of Linden Heights Avenue, resulting in the loss of another courageous firefighter, Rodney W. Pitts III. Three other firefighters were treated and released from hospitals following the incident.

The tribute at the football game was a touching gesture to honor Lt. Dillon Rinaldo’s selfless service and ultimate sacrifice. It served as a reminder of the courage and dedication that firefighters exhibit each day, bravely entering dangerous situations to protect and save lives.

To further commemorate Lt. Rinaldo, viewing hours have been scheduled at the Duda Ruck Funeral Home in Dundalk. The public will have the opportunity to pay their respects on Wednesday and Thursday, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., as well as from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Lt. Dillon Rinaldo, held at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen on North Charles Street in Baltimore, will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 3. It will be a solemn occasion to bid farewell to a fallen hero who made a significant impact during his time with the Baltimore City Fire Department.

This tribute serves as a sobering reminder of the risks faced by firefighters daily. The selflessness and bravery displayed by Lt. Dillon Rinaldo and his fellow firefighters embody the true spirit of dedication and sacrifice. As the community mourns the loss of a hero, it also stands united in support of all firefighters who risk their lives to keep neighborhoods safe.
