Fatal Train Collision Leaves 3 Dead, 10 Injured: Rescue Operations Underway
A tragic train collision occurred on Sunday evening, October 29, resulting in the death of three individuals and leaving ten others injured. The incident involved a rear collision between two trains, specifically the 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train and the 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train. The incident took place at Kantakapalli in the Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam line.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Vizianagaram Collector S. Nagalakshmi promptly arranged for three ambulances to transport the victims to Kothavalasa Area Hospital and King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam. Additionally, medical teams from the Vizianagaram District Medical and Health Department were dispatched to provide immediate treatment to the injured passengers.
Rescue efforts are being carried out in collaboration with various departments, including Revenue, Roads and Buildings, Transport, and the Railways. Divisional Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad arrived at the scene to oversee the relief operations, while accident relief trains were also mobilized.
In the wake of this tragic incident, the local branch of the Indian Red Cross Society has called upon volunteers to extend their services to the injured patients and promptly inform their family members and relatives.
