Nigeria’s Islamic Movement Urges Government to Sever Ties with Israel Amid Israel-Palestine Conflict
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has called on the federal government to cut ties with Israel in light of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Professor Abdullahi Danladi, the Chairman of the Resource Forum of IMN, condemned the escalating violence and oppression in Palestinian territories.
In his address, Danladi emphasized the longstanding commitment of the IMN’s leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Yaqoub El-Zakzaky, to stand in solidarity not only with the Palestinians but with oppressed people worldwide. He expressed deep concern over the recent events in the Middle East, particularly the occupied land of Palestine, which he believes represent a dark chapter in human history.
Over the past 75 years, the Zionist State of Israel has been accused of forcibly expelling Palestinians from their homes, perpetuating violence, and being supported by the United States and its allies. Danladi criticized the silence of the self-proclaimed champions of human rights in the face of these alleged atrocities. He pointed out that while many demonstrate support for the Palestinians globally, including members of the Jewish community, Israel has become an object of global condemnation due to its actions.
Israel’s violations of United Nations charters and resolutions regarding the occupation of Palestinian territory have drawn strong criticism. Danladi argued that the resistance shown by Hamas aligns with principles of self-determination, self-defense, and rights protection. He called on those who view Israel favorably based on religious affiliation to consider the situation beyond faith and recognize the attacks on churches and hospitals as crimes against humanity.
Danladi expressed belief in the inevitability of Israel’s collapse and downfall, evident in what he referred to as desperate attacks highlighting the moral weakness of the country. He called on the Nigerian government to sever all relations and ties with Israel immediately.
The call from the Islamic Movement in Nigeria adds to the global voices expressing concern and calling for action amid the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. Various perspectives on the situation emphasize the need for a balanced understanding of the complex dynamics at play and the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to secure a better future for both Israelis and Palestinians.
