One Critically Injured in Serious Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-40 Eastbound in Dandridge
DANDRIDGE, Tenn. – In a life-threatening incident today, a multivehicle crash occurred on I-40 at Deep Springs Road in Jefferson County, causing eastbound lanes to temporarily close down. Prompt emergency response, including the presence of UT LIFESTAR Aeromedical Services, was crucial. Unfortunately, one individual was transported by the Lifestar aerial ambulance with severe injuries, while two others were taken by regular ambulance to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.
The accident took place around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, with an overturned vehicle found in the median. The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s spokesperson, Mark Nagi, shared on social media that a medical helicopter was en route to provide immediate assistance. At approximately 9:10 a.m., the medical helicopter successfully landed at the scene.
Emergency responders managed to open one right lane near the crash site to allow eastbound traffic to pass through by 9:15 a.m. The swift actions of the responders ensured the smooth flow of traffic.
