Israel Intercepted Missile Fired from Lebanon Targeting Army Drone
The Israeli army successfully intercepted a surface-to-air missile that was fired from Lebanon, specifically targeting an Israeli army drone. According to the Israeli army’s spokesman, Daniel Hagari, the attempted missile strike did not cause any damage to the drone. In response, another Israeli aircraft targeted the source of the missile firing in southern Lebanon.
Notably, the Lebanese side, including the Hezbollah group, has not yet commented on Israel’s claim regarding the missile attack. This recent incident marks the first attempt to target an Israeli drone from Lebanon since the outbreak of clashes along the Israeli-Lebanese borders two weeks ago.
The conflict between Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Israeli army has been marked by intermittent exchanges of fire since the escalation in Gaza on October 7th. The conflict began when the Hamas group launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a surprise attack that involved various methods such as rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel via land, sea, and air. Hamas initiated the incursion as a retaliatory measure following the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and escalating violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
