Tragic Flash Flood Incident Claims Lives of Four Korean Tourists in Vietnam
In a devastating incident, four Korean tourists lost their lives after their vehicle was swept away by flash floods in Vietnam. The incident occurred in Lạc Dương District, situated in the Central Highlands province of Lâm Đồng. The victims, two men and two women, had signed up for a thrilling 4×4 jeep experience in the scenic Cù Lần Village Tourist Area.
Amidst their adventurous outing, tragedy struck as their jeep was carried away by powerful flash floods while crossing a stream. The Vietnamese driver miraculously survived but sustained injuries in the crash. The bodies of three victims were found approximately 2 kilometers away from the site of the incident, while the remaining tourist, who had managed to escape the vehicle, tragically passed away on the way to the hospital.
The devastating news has caught the attention of the Vietnamese government, prompting Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính to call for a thorough investigation into the accident. Expressing deep condolences to the bereaved families, the Prime Minister has also ordered authorities to determine responsibility for the tragic incident.
In response to the incident, several government bodies have taken action. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be collaborating with the People’s Committee of Lâm Đồng Province and the Korean Embassy to address any related issues. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been directed to provide timely guidance to local areas regarding measures to ensure the safety and security of tourists.
With a focus on preventing future tragedies caused by natural disasters, the National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control will closely monitor weather developments and guide localities in implementing appropriate measures.
In light of this unfortunate incident, the Lâm Đồng Province’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has recommended a temporary suspension of tourism and service activities at the Cù Lần Village Tourist Area. The provincial People’s Committee is actively engaged in recovery efforts, and local law enforcement agencies are collaborating with other relevant organizations to thoroughly investigate and establish the causes of the accident.
