Tragic Death of Heroic Volunteer, Zachary T. Noble, Sends Shockwaves in Pittsfield Community
PITTSFIELD – The Pittsfield community was left reeling after the untimely death of Zachary T. Noble, a 27-year-old heroic volunteer, who passed away on October 17, 2023, following a cardiac event while exercising on the track at MCI in Pittsfield.
Zach, born on March 8, 1996, in Waterville, was the son of Teresa (Cook) Noble and Scott Noble. He graduated from MCI in 2015 and worked as a distribution technician at the Kennebec Water District. This year, he achieved his EMT certification from KVCC, a milestone he was immensely proud of. Zach dedicated countless hours to volunteering on the Pittsfield Fire Department and the Unity Ambulance Corporation, driven by his passion for emergency response.
Known as a gentle giant, Zach was a hard worker who greatly supported the communities he served. He had an adventurous spirit, relishing in outdoor activities and displaying his athleticism. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will endure.
Surviving Zach is his mother, Teresa Noble, and her companion Charlie Baker Jr; his father, Scott Noble, and wife Karen; his brother, Hunter Noble; stepbrothers Jacob Baker and Joshua Baker; Charlie’s children Charles Baker III and Kami Howe; grandmother Anna Good; grandparents Bruce and Darlene Cook; special cousin and best friend Morgan Mitchell; close uncle and aunt Paul and Lisa Madore; special friends Ricky and Susie Rollman; Chief Bernard Williams and the Pittsfield Fire Department, who were more like family, providing him with guidance and training; Bruce Cook, former Chief and the grandfather who inspired Zach as a child to pursue EMS; his beloved dog, Dozer, and many other extended family members and close friends.
Zach was preceded in death by his grandfathers Dennis Noble and Dale Good, as well as his uncle Todd Noble.
Visiting hours will be held at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, located at 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023. A fireman’s funeral, officiated by Pastor Tom Gilbert, is scheduled for noon on Saturday, October 28, at the same location. Following the funeral, there will be a last ride and committal at the Village Cemetery on Peltoma Ave, Pittsfield.
