Technology and Climate Collaborations to Boost UK-India Development Partnership

The UK and India have announced new climate and tech partnerships to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The initiatives were unveiled as UK Development Minister Andrew Mitchell attended the G20 Development Ministerial Meeting in Varanasi. They include an investment of £10m ($12.7m) in the Avaana Fund, a women-led climate-tech fund for developing innovative solutions to climate change, and £12m in Nutrifresh, an agri-tech start-up which is focused on growing vegetables in an environmentally friendly way. Mitchell stressed that the UK’s investments would contribute to tackling the “biggest shared challenges of today,” including climate change, poverty and food insecurity.
