LOS ANGELES, California — An armed individual was apprehended by security and subsequently arrested by police prior to the commencement of an event featuring Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., specifically geared towards the Hispanic community in Los Angeles.
As per sources, the man arrived at the event and asserted to be associated with the organizers. Campaign security officials, however, were unfamiliar with him and detained him until law enforcement arrived.
Upon further inspection, it was discovered that the man was in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Sources from Breitbart News suggest that he may face charges of impersonating a police officer or federal agent, as well as potential charges related to the unlawful possession of firearms.
In light of the tragic history of the Kennedy family, the campaign places significant importance on security concerns. The assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and the subsequent assassination of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, the current candidate’s father, in 1968 in Los Angeles, shortly after winning the California Democratic presidential primary, serve as reminders of the necessity for heightened security measures.
Kennedy had previously highlighted that despite his request for Secret Service protection from the Department of Homeland Security and providing extensive documentation in support of the need for it, the Biden administration had denied him such protection.
While Kennedy is making strides in several polls, he still trails behind President Joe Biden by a substantial margin overall. Numerous Democrats express a desire to vote for a candidate other than the incumbent.
