Fatal Collision on Highway 168 Claims Life of Clovis Woman
A tragic accident on Highway 168 near Ashlan Avenue early Tuesday morning resulted in the loss of a Clovis woman’s life. Helena Rhinehart, 37, was driving her 2015 Nissan Altima ahead of a 23-year-old Fresno man in a Dodge Charger when the collision occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
The details of the accident reveal that the driver of the 2007 Charger lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons, leading to it veering left and right before crashing into the rear of Rhinehart’s car at approximately 3:10 a.m. Both vehicles overturned, and the drivers were trapped inside.
Rhinehart was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center but, sadly, succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash. On the other hand, the driver of the Charger is currently recovering from non-life-threatening injuries at CRMC.
Authorities have stated that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the collision. However, investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
