Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has blamed the Eknath Shinde-led government in Maharashtra for the recent clashes in Kolhapur. Raut criticised a few leaders for allegedly using Aurangzeb’s name for political gain, resulting in violence in the state even after 400 years. On June 7, clashes broke out during a demonstration against the alleged use of Tipu Sultan’s image alongside an offensive audio message as social media status. Till now, 36 people have been arrested and cases registered in connection with the violent incident.

An FIR has been lodged against MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande and eight others under Maharashtra police act 37, 135 for burning an effigy of Aurangzeb in the aftermath of the Kolhapur protests. Tension had gripped Kolhapur after two men allegedly posted Tipu Sultan’s image alongside an offensive audio message on social media. Police had to use lathis to disperse the crowds after violent clashes broke out.

Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, stated that it is the government’s responsibility to maintain law and order in the state. He added that no one should be allowed to take the law and order into their own hands following the Kolhapur clash and urged the public to maintain peace in the state. The Chief Minister also assured that action will be taken against those responsible for the violent acts.

The situation in Maharashtra remains tense following the Kolhapur incident, with efforts being made to maintain order in the state. The authorities are working to prevent any further communal violence and have asked all political parties to refrain from making inflammatory statements or using sensitive issues to stir animosity. The State government has also appealed to citizens to maintain communal harmony and not to get influenced by any provocative messages or speeches.
