The 96th Aviation Support Battalion, also known as the Troubleshooters, recently expanded its training operations by utilizing Ripley Airport. This expansion is part of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade’s efforts to create realistic training scenarios as one of the premier aviation brigades in the Army.
To support the brigade’s training operations, the 96th Aviation Support Battalion set up a Forward Arming and Refuel Point at Ripley Airport. This enabled aircraft to take off from Fort Campbell in Kentucky and reach Fort Johnson in Louisiana without interrupting their missions. The process involved a long-range convoy from Fort Campbell, the establishment of a displaced location at Ripley Airport, cooperation with local government, and the successful execution of refueling aircraft by soldiers.
