15 Mexicans and 1 Venezuelan Killed in Tragic Bus Crash in Mexico
Tragedy struck in central Mexico early on Tuesday as a bus carrying 52 passengers collided with a trailer, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of 15 Mexicans and 1 Venezuelan. The incident occurred on the Miahuatlan-Coixtlahuaca highway, leaving 36 others injured.
According to the Mexican INM migration institute, the bus was carrying 10 passengers from Venezuela who had scheduled appointments to seek legal entry into the United States. Sadly, among the injured were 9 Venezuelans, with 3 of them remaining hospitalized. The INM has pledged to assist in repatriating the deceased Venezuelan national’s body back to their home country.
Initial reports from local media suggested that the majority of those who lost their lives in the crash were migrants from Venezuela. A video shared by the local Red Cross unit depicted the aftermath of the collision, with the mangled white bus lying on its side while rescue teams worked tirelessly in the darkness.
The authorities from the state of Puebla issued a separate statement acknowledging the tragic incident and confirming the number of casualties and injuries. The crash has left the community devastated and mourning the loss of their loved ones.
