Yuzvendra Chahal Shines with Quickfire Double Wickets in India vs West Indies T20 Clash
Yuzvendra Chahal, the veteran spinner, left everyone impressed as he took two wickets in the first three balls of his spell during the thrilling T20 clash between India and West Indies on Thursday. Chahal’s remarkable performance turned the game in India’s favor.
Chahal struck on the first ball of the fifth over, completely fooling Kyle Mayers with his spinning delivery. The ball crashed into Mayers’ pads, and the umpire wasted no time in raising his finger. Mayers chose not to go for a review, accepting his dismissal.
Two deliveries later, Chahal struck again, this time dismissing Brandon King. King missed a straighter delivery and ended up giving away his wicket to Chahal with an LBW decision. Chahal’s skillful bowling left the West Indies struggling early on in their innings.
Captain Rovman Powell emerged as the top scorer for the West Indies, contributing 48 runs. Powell’s knock, which included three fours and three sixes off 32 balls, provided some momentum to the West Indies’ innings. Nicholas Pooran also played a valuable role, scoring 41 runs before falling victim to Chahal’s bowling prowess.
However, the West Indies were restricted to 149-6, managing to score just 21 runs off the final three overs. This limited their overall total, preventing them from setting a more challenging target for India.
It is worth noting that Pooran’s recent form has been exceptional. In last week’s Major League Cricket final in the US, he scored an unbeaten 137 runs for MI New York, a team supported by the Mumbai Indians.
The Indian team featured some new faces as well. Young batsman Varma made his debut, while seamer Mukesh Kumar earned his first T20 international cap after featuring in the second Test and subsequent ODI series against the West Indies last month.
India has been dominating the series thus far, winning the two-Test series 1-0 and the ODI series 2-1 against the West Indies. Chahal’s impressive bowling performance in the T20 clash further solidified India’s strong position.
