A 19-year-old youth has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly creating a fake social media account of a woman and sending morphed photos to her fiancee. Shubham Kumar, a resident of Maker in Bihar’s Saran district, was arrested after the complainant reported that her fiancee had received offensive messages and manipulated photographs of her and her family members. The explicit content and altered images led to the dissolution of their engagement. Upon investigation, it was determined that the perpetrator behind the fake account was Shubham Kumar.
During questioning, Kumar revealed that he knew the complainant’s sister-in-law and had devised the fake account with the intent of defaming the complainant. He proceeded to transmit indecent messages and doctored photos to her fiancee. Objectionable material was also recovered from his mobile phone.
M. Harsh Vardhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), revealed that Kumar was apprehended in Muzaffarpur. The DCP also confirmed that an investigation is underway to verify the claims made by the accused against the complainant’s sister-in-law.
Creating fake social media accounts to bully, harass, and defame individuals has become a growing concern in India. The Delhi Police have been cracking down on such cases, and individuals found guilty of such offenses are likely to face severe legal consequences. The arrest of Shubham Kumar serves as a reminder that such actions have serious consequences and are not taken lightly.
