Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, India, declared that the government has a responsibility to ensure safe and smooth road transportation for every citizen, and it is their duty to fulfill this right with honesty and sincerity. He emphasized the alarming rate of road accidents resulting in deaths and compared the number of deaths caused by road accidents in the last year to those caused by Covid in three years. He also acknowledged that over-speeding, poor road engineering, and traffic rules violations often cause road accidents. Yogi urged people to increase awareness of traffic rules and road conditions in a bid to reduce road accidents and prevent the loss of innocent lives. The CM flagged off 93 new Rajdhani bus services and 7 regular BS-6 buses to support road transportation. The event also marked the 50th anniversary of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), the largest unit of public transport in the state. The CM mentioned the growth of electric bus demand in 10 UP cities and requested increasing resources for the transportation sector to enhance public services. The government aims to provide bus services to every village in the state with private operator affiliations as necessary.
